In Week 1, we introduced Copilot as a new way to work. Week 2 is here and let us dive into the benefits of using Copilot and deploying AI within your organization. Since Copilot is your personal AI assistant, it will be able to help you be more productive and empower you to higher level activities.
How Can Microsoft Copilot Empower You?
- Generate Information: Say goodbye to writer’s block! Copilot will be able to help with document creation, presentations, emails, and messages by suggesting relevant content, images, and formatting, tailored to your topic, audience, and style. This works great with Outlook, Word, Teams, and PowerPoint.
- Collaborate Better: Stay Connected! Copilot will be able to seamlessly connect and collaborate with your team and clients. Copilot eases communication, offers meeting insights, and offers summarizations, ensuring everyone stays on the same page effortlessly while you are in Team meetings.
- Analyze Data: Unlock the power of your data! Copilot delves into your data and content, generating insightful charts, tables, summaries, and recommendations that shed light on your business performance, trends, and opportunities. This is a great time saver in complicated spreadsheets, long documents, and email threads.
- Boost your Creativity: Expand your boundaries and do something new! Copilot can boost your creativity by providing you with inspiration, insights, and recommendations. It can help you generate catchy headlines, slogans, and pitches; discover new ideas and perspectives; and enhance your presentations and graphics. You can also use Copilot to analyze data and trends, visualize complex information, and optimize your decisions and strategies. Copilot will also help you discover and learn new skills, trends, and opportunities, and keep up with the latest developments and innovations in your field.
Everybody is going to want to use Copilot!
What does your organization need to think about before we start giving out licenses like they are candy?
- Here is our first Public Service Announcement: Verify your security permissions for documents. Why? As we explained before, Copilot works in your environment, and Copilot will search your files, and if a person has permission to see the information it will be used to help. So, the first place to start is to verify data permissions and data saving practices are correct for your users. For example, are the important documents such as your accounting files access permissions set to only the accounting department employees?
- Second PSA: Verify where you think your VIP documents are being saved. Data governance, labeling, and general data saving practices will become more important from now on. Copilot is designed (out of the box) to work in the Microsoft 365 cloud environment. So, if you are still saving files in shared folders or on your desktop, it is a good time to start migrating your files to SharePoint and Teams!
- Third PSA: AI is being released within every application at rapid rates. Your employees will start using these programs and we all know about shadow IT! (If you don’t know, shadow IT is when employees deploy their own IT solutions without their IT department’s knowledge or approval.) Shadow IT exploded when cloud applications became so accessible, which is why it is important to have a clear AI strategy and governance security framework that aligns with your business goals and values.
Why Copilot?
Copilot is an AI application that can help you achieve your goals, while also ensuring that your data is secure and compliant. Copilot is integrated with Microsoft 365, which means that it inherits the same security and privacy features that you already trust and use. Copilot also respects your data permissions and roles, so it only accesses the information that you allow it to. Copilot helps you manage your data better, by providing you with insights and recommendations that can improve your productivity and collaboration. Copilot is not just another AI tool, it is a smart assistant that works with you, with your data, and for you.
